Brazil: Visit of Guanabara Rugby & Favelas

Serge was in Rio for the Olympic comeback of Rugby.

He took the opportunity to share his passion with young people from the favelas of Rio, an amazing moment for them.

Two years after his first visit, he went back to the Guanabara rugby club for a rugby training and a beautiful exchange with the children.

Cameroon : National Day and Parade

National Day is a holiday in Cameroon celebrated on 20 May.

On the 20th of May 1972, in a national referendum Cameroonians voted for a unitary state as opposed to the existing federal state. At this occasion children all over the country go to schools and celebrate this day usually by singing, carrying out parades or marches all around the different parts of their various cities

In Bangangté, in West Cameroon, SBA’s children of the centre L’eau Claire are part of the parade. And a rugby game was organised.

Partnership : PANAFRICA

PANAFRICA is a brand from H&V, which manufactures shoes created from African fabrics.  The commitment to African education this company has pleased us immediately.  PANAFRICA created their cornerstone program #Walkforschool, which results in 1 pair of shoes purchased = 1 child equipped for a year of school.  They are finishing their first collaboration with a group in Benin and have decided to partner with the SBA for their second collaboration.  This partnership and its donations will equip part of our children for the 2016-2017 school year.

USA : SBA helps the Las Vegas Rugby Academy

After helping disadvantaged rugby players in Washington DC, SBA USA decided to help rugby players in Las Vegas. In January 2016, the SBA donated $250 to the Las Vegas Rugby Academy (“LVRA”) a  club which started as a Training and Clinic Academy and now has clubs teams, flag league and an in school clinic to spread the sport of rugby. LVRA was founded in 2009 by ex-Eagles player Vaha Esikia. LVRA is a non-profit organization focused on promoting and enhancing rugby, while educating the local community on the fundamentals of the sport in a safe, fun and family-oriented environment.  http://www.lasvegasrugbyacademy.com/

The donation made by SBA was used to sponsor 3 students and purchase 3 rugby balls. The 3 students sponsored were Donald Lombard Jr., Haniteli Latu and Sione Ngaue.

SBA looks forward to a long and successful relationship with LVRA!
