Madagascar: Completing the Nursery

As 2017 drew to a close, we joined forces with the Espérance Marianina association in Madagascar. We were united in completing the construction of the new nursery wing at the Marianina school. The original construction plans had been delayed due to hurricanes, pest infestations and outbreaks of illnesses which plagued the whole country and severely impacted the villager’s efforts. The completion date was pushed into 2018 as we teamed up to complete the project.

The first day of term was then delayed due to the reorganisation of The Ministry of Education. However, the new term started on the 19th of November which saw 65 fresh-faced nursery school children taking their seats in the new building. Furniture is being prepared and adapted especially for the children with new pieces being added as soon as they are constructed.

We are so proud that this project finally came to fruition and that more than sixty children are now learning and playing in such lovely new conditions.

Madagascar : Some news from Marianina

One of our favorites, Marianina in Madagascar, sends us some news of their projects.

Here are some pictures of the parents of college students in Marianina at work to begin at the tail the foundations of the third building.

According to the traditions of the country, for the laying of the first foundation stone by the representative of the mayor, a small ceremony was held in the presence of officials and village elders.

The SBA has contributed to this project to build the third building financing € 2,500 which will be used to purchase materials: stones, bricks, cement, etc … for the progress of the construction.

We will keep you informed of the progress of the project!

Madagascar : SBA helps Marianina charity

“Hope is the only possession for those who have nothing” – Bussy Rabutin

Serge Betsen Academy supports the charity Espérance Marianina Madagascar by financing a second building for the high school.  This includes classrooms for fifth and sixth  forms, which welcomed 38 and 11 pupils in October 2013 respectively.

By taking part in the financing of this project –  costing in total 7 400 € (`£6270), SBA joins EMM and helps Malagasychildren who need it.

Together everything is possible.
