Bafia : meeting with the mums of our children

During her visit of Cameroon in September, Odile, the SBA’s CEO, organised a meeting with the mothers from the charity’s centre in Bafia. The event addressed the role of young women in the local community, as, bound by cultural norms, mothers today prefer to send their sons to school but keep their daughters at home for domestic work. However, as explained by one of the mothers (who works at the Ministry of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure), “once a woman is given control of her revenue, she can with greater ease make decisions with regards to her family”.
